Kara & Robert

A Little About Us

Robert and Kara first met in 2014 when they were introduced by their mutual friend, Shelby Bishop. Despite Shelby’s best efforts, it just wasn’t the right time for Robert and Kara, so they went their separate ways.

Fast forward to the end of 2020 when the two ran into each other again in Corpus Christi at their friend, Travis Colley’s house. Of course, Shelby was there. Kara was about to take the bar exam and then move to Corpus, where Robert worked as a firefighter (and lived with Travis). Funny enough, that trip to Corpus was supposed to be Kara’s post-bar trip to Ireland, but Covid and God had other plans. Robert will say that Kara “stalked” him on the beach, but she was just walking the family dog, Boo (IYKYK).

This time around was different, as Robert and Kara started an actual friendship. It was respectful and supportive, casual yet witty, and they met each other where they were in life (full disclaimer: Kara was already playing the long game). What started as a friendship eventually turned into a flirtation, which grew into a relationship. At some point, Robert just started calling Kara his girlfriend—no, he didn’t even ask. Seven months in, Kara knew that she loved Robert, and she did NOT want to be the first to say “I love you.” But then, in the face of a year-long deployment, she finally told him. Robert didn’t say it back until the morning he left for Kuwait—literally, in the parking lot as Kara dropped him off and they said their goodbyes. As they say, the rest is history.

One deployment, a year and a half more of long-distance, a golden retriever puppy named Sadie, two new families, two separate moves to Fort Worth, a few big career moves (like passing the Texas Bar and becoming a commercial airline pilot), lots of fun vacations, countless sushi date nights, and a GORGEOUS diamond ring later (good job, Robert), Robert and Kara are finally tying the knot on September 13, 2025.

Thank you to our friends and family for all the love and support over the last FOUR YEARS, and a special thank you to Shelby and Travis for helping to set our Forever in motion. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all.
